//Vow to self// .
I like writing to you
because if I be honest
I enjoy feeding your loneliness
as much like a mug cake I learnt making
before any lockdown ever happened,
like it’s not merely a survival kit but an aid
I carry even when there is no damage.
Because even though I don’t hold a licence yet
I know well how to not hit car to the railings
and so I won’t let despair touch your joys.
And on days when you don’t want to read Keats
I will dress my words in songs of Bob Dylan.
I will make you dream of light pink skies
to get you in the mood to sing spring melodies.
I will write to you
about you, for you
even if the last post office
in the town shuts down.
For anyway a 4 by 6 card
is not spacious enough to carry
everything that I hold for you.
